With the image of the lazy sea lions in mind we had decided to fly to Miami. Not only because of the good flight connection to our next destination, Lima, but also because of its famous beaches. That’s what would help us relax and prepare for South-America!
Since hotel rates are more affordable during the off-season we decided for a nice place on Miami South Beach. The room and staff were very nice and every morning we enjoyed a perfect view over the pool and Miamis skyline:
It does however take some time to get used to the sticky and moist climate, especially when leaving the air-conditioned hotel.
The breakfast buffet provided different kinds of delicious pastries, granolas, fresh orange juice and fruits:
The days we usually spent at the beach,
or the pool:
And for lunch or dinner we tried recommendations from friends, like the Nexxt Caffee, a recommendation from Bili :-). But even after further inquiring with the waitress they did not have the especially recommended Molton Chocolate Cake … 🙁
Instead we had the Avocado Bites (fresh avocado, red onion, oven-dried tomato and cilantro, fried crisp and served with tamarind-macadamia sauce):
The Dynamite Shrimp (crispy tempura shrimp tossed with spicy dynamite sauce):
And the Chicken Samosas (crispy wrappers filled with spiced chicken and served with cilantro dipping sauce):
We also tried some delicious Haitian food in the Tap Tap restaurant. Here we had white rice with black bean-sauce, some fried yucca and deliciously-spicy marinated shrimp:
And some white rice already mixed with black bean-sauce, fried yucca and delicious fish:
We also visited the Puerto Sagua restaurant were we tried some Cuban food. We shared a Shrimp bowl with spicy salsa sauce:
Deliciously grilled Talipa fish in garlic sauce:
Cuban style shredded beef:
Cassava with garlic sauce (cassava is also called manioc or yuca and is a root):
With rice and sweet plantains:
And two Cuban style ales:
But we weren’t eating all the time 🙂
We also had some laundry to do, after all the wearables on our trip are limited.
And of course after all that hard work we strolled around the promenade by day:
and by night:
And enjoyed the crazyness of Miami, for example a 1.4L Strawberry-Margarita…
Too big to drink alone 🙂
And after those 5 days just flew by, we jumped on the plane and left Miami just when it started to drizzle the first time during our visit 🙂
