Returning to Buenos Aires from Ushuaia we only had one night before continuing on to Santiago. On this last afternoon we had planned to visit one of BA’s prime tourist attractions, the Cementerio de la Recoleta. After arriving in the hostel we had a short rest before starting out to Recoleta. Being back in the warm and sunny BA weather we enjoyed a delicious ice cream on the way:
But when we finally arrived at the cemetery we had to find out that it closes at 5 pm and we were too late… Aaaargh! None of us had checked the opening hours and we had both assumed the cemetery to be open at least until 7 or 8 pm.
We still tried to make the best of it and wandered around the high walls that surround the necropolis peeking through the holes, gaps and fences where possible:
After walking around in the city some more we enjoyed a bottle of Argentinian wine on our last evening in Argentina and planned the upcoming sites in Santiago more carefully…
Next morning we got up very early to catch our flight to Santiago and saw the sun rise over the city as we headed towards the airport:
Hasta la vista Argentina!
Definitely one of the countries we will have to revisit!
