On our first morning in Rio, Weih-Oh took us to the Jardim Botanico, the botanical garden. We entered through a side entrance quite early at around 7 am, when it is still closed to the public. It was really nice to walk around in the peaceful atmosphere of the awaking garden.
The Jardim Botanico was planted in the 1800s and still contains a huge collection of plants from all over the world, not only tropical ones.
We did not only see tons of beautiful flowers and plants, but also had a great view of the Corcovado. At least when it wasn’t covered with clouds:
This bird was having breakfast without getting his feet wet. It was amazing how fast and how long he could stretch his neck to peck out little fish from the pond:
There was also a special orchid exhibition we visited:
And finally we had a nice little breakfast in the gardens coffee before we took off to explore Rio!

Hey guys, I did not pay attention to the date but the last two posts are dated to November .. are you postings one month “behind”? Just curious .. Timmi 🙂
You’re HIRED! Although I have the same camera, I am not getting the same results with my photos.
Perhaps you could give me some tips. Better yet, I might just have to take a year off to travel so that I would have better subjects.
I could almost smell the fragrance of these plants. Beautiful!
Thanks for letting me travel along!
Hugs from the hills,
Aunt Judie
